Worthington Looms Large over Malvern

May 11th, 2007

Worthington, a groundbreaking new development that will offer a variety of residential, retail and office space, is under construction in Malvern (right next to Vanguard, near Rt 29) and should be ready by Spring 2009.

The space aims to offer modern luxury alongside small town sensibility; a traditional town square will serve as the focal point, and natural elements like a winding stream, rolling greenbelts and tree-lined streets will create the atmosphere that it is more than just a cookie-cutter housing or business development. (Exton’s Main Street attempted to create this, but failed to fully recapture the urban/town environment because there is no residential space.)

The food and dining choices will be plenty, including a Wegman’s Supermarket. According to the website, “morning coffee, lunch break, afternoon snack, happy hour, or elegant dinner — you’ll enjoy all kinds of dining options at Worthington.”

Can Worthington create a genuine small town atmosphere, or will it be just another Chesterbrook? We’ll be sure to keep tabs on this.
