Main Line Today’s Best

Main Line Today’s annual Best of the Main Line edition is on newsstands now.

Kudos to the MLT staff: the food & drink section is far, far more extensive than anything Philadelphia Magazine has put out in years! If you live in the area and like food at all this is a must-read.

No Kudos to the reader’s choices: Wawa for best hoagie? Kildare’s for best draft selection? Who votes for these things?

    Georges Resturant in Wayne PA.

    My family’s expectations were quite high given Georges Perrier’s reputation, and we were very dissapointed. The four of us ordered five appetizers and four dinners. The clams and mussles were over cooked and a few of them tasted as if they had been dead for a few days, and some even smelled like sewage. The fried oysters were very good, spring rolls good, not great. The corn and shrimp combo was tasty but not remarkable. The Black Angus burger was acceptable. Sirloin steak with mushrooms and macaroni and cheese was very good, but at $31 that’s what one would expect. The deserts were excellent.

    The total cost of our meal for four, excluding alcohol, but including tax and tip was about $250. The meal might have been enjoyable and fully priced at about $175. What added insult to injury was the wait staff. We had a waitress who seemed like she must have last worked in a pizza shop with table service. She tried, but did not have the appropriate training or demanor for a resturant striving to offer a high end dining experience to people who are use to dining in better resturants in Philadelpha and New York. It was one of the worst service experiences we’ve ever had and that includes Pizza Hut. So save your money and find great food and better service at just about anywhere on the Main Line!
