555 E. Lancaster Ave., otherwise known as the Radnor Financial Center, is home to big doings in 2006. The location is currently under renovations and is set to host a Philadelphia Sports Club and offices for a division of Aon, plus two new restaurants:
Firstly (and best of all), Susanna Foo’s Radnor endeavor, which at different times has been billed as a “dumpling house”, “noodle house” and “family-friendly gourmet kitchen”, is currently under construction and expected to open in July.
Fleming’s Steakhouse & Wine Bar has also just signed a lease, and should open sometime in 2006. (Gee, another steak chain to the area… sounds expensive and boring!)
Abde Dahrouch’s Pond Restaurant and Bistro Cassis, which will replace Passerelle and Bravo Bistro at 175 King of Prussia Rd. in Radnor (610-293-9411), are currently scheduled to open March 6.
Avalon in West Chester has a new executive chef: Steven Ferdinand, a French Culinary Institute grad with experience at Le Cirque, Aquavit and Le Zoo in New York. The menu is French and Italian-inspired with entrees under $29. Former chef Clark Gilbert has moved to Taquet.
Du Jour, a gourmet shop in Haverford (379 Lancaster Ave., 610-896-4556), has added a sit-down cafe and market. Options such as soups, salads, grilled items, sandwiches, hand-carved meats, and a brick oven for pizzas and paninis should be nice for a quick meal.
Speaking of gourmet shops, Thomas’ Kitchen has opened in Wayne, on Lancaster Ave. near Wayne Beverage and Seafood USA. Menu features gourmet take-out fare like grilled salmon with braised leeks and grilled pork chop with asparagus.
