Cafe Fresko Closes – Indian Rivarly Coming

February 14th, 2010

Michael Klein reports that longtime Bryn Mawr BYOB Cafe Fresko has closed, and that it will soon be replaced by a second outpost of Fishtown Indian restaurant Ekta.

This is especially interesting due to the fact that Ekta is owned by former employees of Tiffin, who are also opening soon in Bryn Mawr.

Cafe Fresko was our favorite restaurant in the Main Line. We were so sad to hear… whether we were there for my birthday with a group of friends or a simple weeknight date, it was always our first choice.
Lovely welcoming by the owner and great food by her son, the Chef. Gotta get them back in the area…. where did they go?
I miss their greek cheese appetizer… the right way to do a greek salad…my husband loved their grilled octopus, their fish dishes were delightful and their ossobuco OMG !
    CAFE FRESKO COME BACK…..

Cafe Fresko was an excellent restaurant and moderately priced. They had the best grilled octopus I’ve had in the U.S. Another big favorite of ours was the duck breast, and the desserts were good, too – especially the home-made baklava. My wife and I considered this our favorite Main Line restaurant. We are extremely disappointed to hear this sad news. I guess we’ll have to start going to Gemelli [in Narberth] more often.

I am so sad to hear Cafe Fresko has closed! My husband and I were there 2 weeks ago and had such a great meal. It was packed the entire time we were there, too. We’ll have to find a new favorite spot.
