Hungry for Some ‘Cue?

It’s barbecue season (at least it was at our house recently, with hickory-smoked ribs), but there’s problem: Where does one go for good barbecue between West Chester (Mabel’s) and Philly (lots of great options)?

Well, come September (updated from July), I’ll say Jimmy’s BBQ, coming soon to the Westgate Plaza in Frazer (the one with Royal Thai Orchid and Staples, replacing that wicker furniture store). Jimmy’s catering business has already won awards (Best of the Main Line in 2007), so we’re certainly excited about this one.

Keep track of the opening at

  1. Hi all. Jimmy’s BBQ will not be opening until September.
The old adage that projects take twice as long and cost twice as much is, apparently, True.
In the meantime Jimmy’s BBQ is available for catering.
Please check the website for updates.

  2. Having tasted BBQ all over the country, Jimmy’s is clearly the best. His ribs are better than the “legends” found in Memphis. Can’t wait for them to open

  3. I tried Pig Out. When I asked where their smoke was they said it wasn’t on site. I thought the food was fair.
Mabels- I didn’t finish anything I tried. Way overdone.

  4. I’d have to disagree that Mabels in quality BBQ. While the women there are nice, the Q they turn out is less than authentic. The ribs are overcooked to the point they literally fall of the bone when you attempt to pick them up. Do they even own a smoker?

  5. good news on the bbq front, but the very best baby backs I have tasted are at Pig out Take Out a small shop in Glen Mills on the corner of sandy bank and glen mills rds. just past the post office. these are real slowcooked southern style and the baby backs are positively dripping off the bone. a must try for lovers of the rib!
