Lew's may be catching up -- they also have a "now hiring" sign. I looked into the construction site at Murray's and someone told me they are due to open October lst. It seems to be two seperate operations, the deli and a bistro. At the back of the building is a two story parking lot. It obviously has a liquor license whereas Lew's is a BYOB. Murray's seems to be really major operation.
My real test of a NY style deli is the corned beef and pastrami are kept hot from the steamer right to the steam table. There is no such thing as a Hot Corned Beef Sandwich it would be like asking for a Hot Hamburger.

Murray's Deli in Berwyn looks like it's close to opening. Their sign is up and they are hiring.
On the other hand Lew's N.Y. Deli in Paoli seems to be moving in fits and starts. They finally have tables in --it's a lot smaller then it looks from the road. They only have part of the building. I would estimate the seating is not over 50.

Not since 1945 have I been (or will be) so surrounded by delis. I was one block from the origional Murray's at 60th and Locust (that's right, NOT 54th and City Line) and 4 blocks from Barson's (now Hymie's) at 60th and Cedar. The big difference is that the 60th St. area of SW Phila. was about 70% Jewish at that time but I doubt the the area of the Upper Main Line between Wayne and Malvern is more that 5% Jewish. In about a year or two you might be able to find a deli that you can convert into s steak house.
