Two Big Local Events Next Weekend

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Next weekend boasts two big foodie events on the Main Line — it’s a shame they overlap!

As we mentioned previously, Friday night Feb 5th is Foodapalooza II in Haverford. Tickets are $12 in advance / $15 at the door.

In addition, the first ever Taste Local Festival will take place at the Desmond in Malvern on Friday night and all day Saturday. The main event takes place Saturday afternoon from 12-3:30 and will include a sampling of local food, wine and beer (featuring over fifteen breweries and wineries), plus several “Savor Sessions” where you get to learn and taste unique food and drink pairings. In addition, there are pairing dinners both nights, a chili competition and more. Tickets start at $35.

Main Line Dine will be represented at both events, so we hope to see you out next weekend!

In Search of Fine Wine and ‘Cue on the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

About a year ago, I came across an article about four friends who traveled to Texas with in search of great wine and great barbecue. It was an entertaining article, but I couldn’t help but wonder: Why I don’t have a job that allows me to to take wine and food tours?

Weekend Festivals

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Looking for something to do this weekend? You’re in luck.

  • The annual Main Line Jazz and Food Festival is Saturday on North Wayne Ave. from 4-10pm. Unlike recent years, the food booths are being replaced with additional outdoor seating from the restaurants that line the street. Expect fewer (if any) kids activities and a larger focus on the music. http://www.mainlinejazz.com/
  • A bit further afield is the Great Tastes of Pennsylvania Wine and Food Festival at the Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, PA. The two-day festival will feature top PA wines, music, food and more. http://www.splitrockresort.com/wine-festival.php

Main Line Restaurant Week

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The Main Line is finally catching this “restaurant week” wave (that has caught the Philly area by storm) with an event called “DINE THE LINE” that lasts from Monday 4/30 through Friday 5/4. The special deal will be 3-4 courses for $30.00 participating area restaurants, which include 333 Belrose, Mediterranean Grill, Meridith’s, Blush, and many others.

We’ve always thought Philly’s restaurant week was overrated, mainly because we don’t typically order 3 courses individually when we go to a restaurant. At most, we’ll split apps & dessert, at which point the $30-40 isn’t that great of a deal, especially if it is a limited menu. We typically skip the deal anyway so we can order what we want to order.

If it drums up some extra business for these fine Main Line restaurants, or gives you an excuse for a fun night out however, do it up.
