Here’s a selection of interesting upcoming events for September. Feel free to add more in the comments section below.
Sept 9: Sea & Sip: Victory Beer at Nectar, Berwyn
Chef Patrick Feury will be pairing a fish menu with Victory Beer. Nectar is proud to have Brewmaster Bill Covaleski of Victory on hand and will run the menu and Victory all month. 5pm. More information: 610.725.9000
Frazer favorite Cupcakes Gourmet will be adding a second location in Gateway Shopping Center (which supposedly in Wayne, but is really more like Berwyn or KoP, depending on where you are coming from).
It will be located on the short side of the strip mall, somewhere in between Panera Bread and Outback (closer to Panera). Expect an October launch.
If you haven’t tried these great cupcakes yet, perhaps this is your chance!
Former Taquet chef de cuisine Clark Gilbert will be opening Gemelli, an Italian-American BYOB in the former Margot location at 232 Woodbine Ave. in Narberth. Expect the menu to be focused on simple, inexpensive fare.
Update: Gemelli’s scheduled open date is 9/29/09.
We’ve submitted a review of Luigi and Giovanni’s great Porchetta sandwich to Best of Philly Blog Unbreaded.
Great event this weekend to participate in….

The lastest victim of the economic downturn is Narberth’s wonderful BYOB Margot.
MLD reader Steve reported that the restaurant was closed this Friday evening. This morning, an answering machine message states: “Hi, you have reached 232 Woodbine Ave. in Narberth. Ownership of this location has changed. Please look forward to a new restaurant coming soon. Thanks very much.”
Hopefully Margot will appear elsewhere soon, as in the meantime, her neighborhood gem will be missed.
Bryn Mawr’s Blush has closed after three years of business. Chef Nick Farina, who opened Verdad last week, has decided to focus exclusively on his new Tapas joint. Much of the staff will join him at Verdad.
No word yet on what will replace Blush in the space that has held a restaurant for 20+ years (Toscana, Bianca, Blush…)
We just picked up a new rumor on the Freehouse space (11 N. Wayne Ave.): Apparently the deal with JD McGillicuddy’s has fallen through; in place of the Pub mini-chain, a Mexican restaurant will be the new tenant. Is it Johnny Cabo’s II? Another Coyote Crossing? We’ll post more details as they come to light.
The McGillicuddy’s website still states that a Main Line location is coming soon.
In semi-related news, we’re also told that thieves swiped some flat-screen TVs from the Freehouse this week, but that they have been apprehended. (more…)
