Conshy’s Maya Bella has closed. Chef Ken Shapiro is now working in the kitchen at Philly’s Gayle.

Honestly, based on the feedback I’ve gotten through this site and otherwise, this doesn’t seem like a big loss for the local dining scene.

We haven’t had the chance to visit Radnor’s new Pond Restaurant and/or Bistro Cassis yet, but there is a brief writeup in the September issue of Philadelphia Magazine.

The review is somewhat lukewarm, with Food getting a B-, Service a B and Atmosphere an A. Maria Gallagher says: “The French-Mediterranean menu at Pond is so similar to [chef Abde Dahrouch's former restaurant] Taquet’s correct, conservative style that I found myself wishing Dahrouch would lighten his sauces, season with a bolder hand, and show us something different.”

Spamps Restaurant has opened next to Viggiano’s on First Ave. in Conshohocken. The restaurant’s tagline is: “Steaks – Seafood – Sushi”.
